Screenshot and Screen-Sharing Policy
This page explains how screenshots and browser screen-sharing work on ourgames.life, including the privacy-first defaults that govern them. Screen-sharing with on-demand AI frame analysis is a planned feature and is not live yet; the policy below describes how it will work when we introduce it.
This policy will be updated as planned features launch. As an Early Access product, features and safeguards may change, and we will revise this page when they do.
Status: A Planned Feature
Browser gameplay screen-sharing with on-demand AI frame analysis is a planned feature of ourgames.life. It is not available today. The rules described on this page govern how the feature will work when it is introduced.
We are publishing this policy in advance so you can understand our approach before you ever choose to turn the feature on. Until it launches, no part of ourgames.life captures your screen. Our live features today are the AI gaming Sidekick, the Game Academy lessons, and embedded YouTube walkthrough segments, none of which access your screen.
ourgames.life is an Early Access product operated by an independent developer. It is a fan resource and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any game publisher. All game names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
How Screen-Sharing Will Work
When introduced, screen-sharing will use your browser's built-in screen-capture technology (the standard getDisplayMedia interface). This means the capture is controlled by your browser, not by us. It can only begin after a deliberate user gesture, such as clicking a clearly labeled Share button, and your browser will then show its own permission prompt asking which window, tab, or screen you want to share.
Permission will be requested per session. Sharing does not persist silently in the background across visits; if you close the session or stop sharing, you will need to grant permission again the next time. You can end sharing at any moment using either the in-app control or your browser's native stop-sharing button.
Screen-sharing will be available only over a secure HTTPS connection, which is a requirement of the browser screen-capture technology itself and helps protect the stream in transit.
When you are sharing, ourgames.life will show a small, local, low-resolution preview so you can confirm what is being captured. This preview is generated in your browser for your own reference.
On-Demand AI Frame Analysis
The purpose of screen-sharing is to let the AI Sidekick look at your game when you ask it to, for example when you want help getting past a specific spot. Frame analysis will be on-demand only: a single frame is captured and analyzed at the moment you take an explicit action, such as asking a question or pressing an Analyze button.
We do not continuously scan or stream your gameplay to the AI. Between the moments you ask for help, no frames are sent for analysis, even while a share session is technically active.
A captured frame may be sent to the AI model that powers the Sidekick to generate an answer. Depending on your configuration, that model may be Anthropic's Claude, an OpenAI-compatible model, or a local fallback. When a frame is sent to an external model provider, it is processed under that provider's terms for the purpose of returning an answer to you. If you prefer that no frame leaves your device, you can simply not use frame analysis and continue to use the Sidekick with text only.
Temporary Frames, No Recording
Frames captured for analysis are temporary. A frame is used to produce the Sidekick's response and is then deleted after that analysis; we do not build a stored library of your gameplay images.
There is no full gameplay recording by default. Screen-sharing is for live, on-demand help, not for making a video of your session. We do not record your screen to a file, and we do not save a continuous capture of what you share.
Any screenshots you deliberately capture and choose to send remain yours; sending one to the Sidekick works the same way as an on-demand frame and the temporary copy is deleted after it is used to answer you.
Separate Permissions for Sidekick and Party Rooms
Screen-sharing to the AI Sidekick and any sharing inside a Party room are governed by separate, independent permissions. Turning one on never automatically turns on the other.
Private Party voice and text rooms (planned, built on WebRTC/LiveKit) are also a not-yet-live feature. When introduced, voice will be processed only on explicit user action, with no continuous voice recording and no automatic transcription by default. If Party rooms ever support sharing your screen with other people in the room, that will require its own distinct opt-in, and sharing your screen with other players is different from sending a frame to the Sidekick.
Because these are distinct actions with distinct audiences, you can use one without the other, and revoking permission for one does not affect the other.
YouTube Walkthroughs
Video walkthrough segments in the Game Academy and Sidekick are embedded using the official YouTube IFrame Player API. Videos are streamed and played by YouTube inside its own player; they are never downloaded, copied, or re-hosted by us.
We do not suppress, block, or skip YouTube's advertising or player controls. Your use of embedded videos is subject to YouTube's and Google's terms and privacy policies.
Buy and Download Links
When introduced, Buy and Download links will point to authorized retailers such as GOG, Green Man Gaming, Fanatical, Epic, or publisher stores. Some of these links may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you make a purchase. This is disclosed and comes at no extra cost to you.
We do not process game payments. All purchases are completed on the retailer's own website under the retailer's terms, and any payment information you enter is handled by that retailer, not by ourgames.life.
Your Controls
You are always in control of your screen. You can decline the browser's permission prompt, choose exactly which window or tab to share, and stop sharing at any time from the app or from your browser.
Because frame analysis is on-demand, the simplest privacy control is to only ask for help when you want the AI to see your screen. If you never use frame analysis, no frames are captured or sent.
Changes and Contact
This is an Early Access product built by an independent developer, and the screen-sharing, Party, and affiliate features described here are still in development. We will update this policy as these features launch and as our safeguards evolve.
