Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information ourgames.life collects when you use our gaming companion app, how it is processed (including by AI providers), how long it is kept, and the controls you have to export or delete it. ourgames.life is an Early Access product built by an independent developer, and we take a privacy-first approach: features that involve your screen or voice run only when you deliberately turn them on.
This is an Early Access product, so this policy will be updated as new features launch. Planned features described as governed "when introduced" are not live yet; we will revise this policy before enabling them.
Who we are
ourgames.life is a gaming companion web app operated by an independent developer. It is currently in Early Access, which means features are still being built and refined. We are a fan resource and are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any game publisher or platform. All game names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners; we reference them only to help you play the games you already own.
Because we are a small indie project rather than a large legal entity, this policy is written to be plain and honest rather than exhaustive. If anything here is unclear, please reach out at hello@ourgames.life.
What data we collect
Sidekick questions and context: When you ask the AI gaming Sidekick something like "how do I get past this boss," we process the text of your question, the game or level you mention, and your spoiler-control setting so we can return a useful, appropriately spoiler-limited answer.
Progress and learning activity: If you use the Game Academy, we may store which lessons you have started or completed so we can show your progress and pick up where you left off.
Preferences and settings: We store choices you make in the app, such as your spoiler level, preferred AI model option, and interface preferences, so the app behaves the way you expect.
Basic technical data: Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may automatically log standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps) to keep the service running securely and to diagnose problems. We do not use this to build advertising profiles about you.
We do not ask for more personal information than we need to run the features you use, and we do not sell your personal data.
How AI providers process your data
The Sidekick can be powered by Anthropic Claude, an OpenAI-compatible model, or a built-in local fallback. When you send a Sidekick question, the text of that question and the relevant game context are sent to the selected AI provider so it can generate a response. This means your question is processed on that provider's systems and is subject to their terms and privacy practices in addition to ours.
When the local fallback is used, your question is handled by our own service without being sent to an external AI provider.
We send AI providers only what is needed to answer your question. We do not send your account details or unrelated personal information along with a Sidekick request, and we ask providers not to use your prompts to train their models where that option is available to us.
Screen sharing and AI frame analysis (planned)
Browser gameplay screen-sharing with on-demand AI frame analysis is a planned feature and is not live yet. When introduced, it will be strictly privacy-first and opt-in.
When introduced, screen frames will be captured and analyzed only on an explicit action you take, such as pressing an "analyze this screen" button. There will be no continuous or background capture of your screen, and no full recording of your gameplay by default.
When introduced, a frame sent for analysis will be temporary: it is used to produce a single answer and then deleted after analysis. We do not intend to build a permanent library of your gameplay images.
We will update this policy with full details before this feature is enabled.
YouTube walkthrough segments
The app embeds YouTube walkthrough segments using the official YouTube IFrame Player API. Videos are embedded and played directly from YouTube; we never download, copy, or re-host the videos, and we do not suppress or block YouTube's ads or player controls.
Because these videos are served by YouTube, watching them involves YouTube (Google) and is subject to Google's privacy policy and terms. Google may set cookies or collect data through the embedded player as described in its own policies.
Affiliate "Buy & Download" links (planned)
Affiliate "Buy & Download" links to authorized retailers such as GOG, Green Man Gaming, Fanatical, Epic, or publisher stores are a planned feature and are not live yet. When introduced, these links will be clearly disclosed as affiliate links.
When introduced, we may earn a commission if you buy through one of these links, at no extra cost to you. We do not process game payments ourselves and we do not collect your payment card details. Any purchase happens on the retailer's own site, and that transaction is governed by the retailer's terms and privacy policy, not ours.
Party voice and text rooms (planned)
Private "Party" voice and text rooms (built on WebRTC/LiveKit) are a planned feature and are not live yet. When introduced, they will follow the same privacy-first defaults as the rest of the app.
When introduced, voice will be processed only on an explicit action you take, such as joining a room and unmuting. There will be no continuous voice recording and no automatic transcription running in the background. We do not intend to record or store your Party conversations by default.
We will update this policy with full details, including any information shared to connect you with other participants, before this feature is enabled.
Data retention
We keep data only as long as it is useful for the purpose it was collected. Preferences and Academy progress are kept while your setup or account is active so the app can remember your settings and progress.
Sidekick questions may be retained briefly to operate and debug the service, but we do not need to keep them indefinitely. Temporary screen frames, when that feature is introduced, are deleted after analysis rather than retained.
When you delete your data (see below), we remove it from our active systems. Copies may persist for a short time in routine backups before they age out, and standard technical logs are kept only for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
Your controls: export and deletion
You control your data. You can request an export of the information associated with your use of the app, and you can request deletion of that information.
To export or delete your data, or to ask a question about how your data is handled, contact us at hello@ourgames.life. Because we are a small Early Access project, some of these requests are handled manually, so please allow us a reasonable amount of time to respond.
Many preferences can also be changed directly in the app at any time, and you can stop using any optional feature (such as the Sidekick) whenever you like.
Children's privacy
ourgames.life is intended for a general gaming audience and is not directed at young children. Please do not use the app to submit personal information about a child. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at hello@ourgames.life and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
Because this is an Early Access product under active development, we will update this policy as features launch and as our practices evolve. Planned features described here are governed only when they are actually introduced, and we will revise this policy before enabling them.
When we make meaningful changes, we will update the date on this page. Your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
